
Setting: This is a skill that all players need to have, but it is the most difficult skill to master. It involves good eye hand coordination, strength in both arms and legs, and most of all the ability to judge distances, height, and speed all at the sametime.

Spiking: This is part of the game that everyone enjoys, as it involves strength, speed, and power in an instant. The ability to move quickly, jumping at your highest point, making a fluent arm swing, and making flush contact on the volleyball, to accelerate the volleyball at a tremondous rate of speed.

Blocking:
This takes patience, quick lateral movements, being able to read the direction of the spiker, quick feet, strong arms, sturdy shoulders, tight abdominal muscles, and explosive jumping ability to get as high as possible, taking away an area on the net, which will take away a bigger part of the court.

Passing / bumping:
This is the most important part of the offense and defense, as it begins the transition and plays for any team. Without a "good" pass, a team is not able to run any type of "play" or "transition" offense or attack. This is a skill that most teams spend most of their practice doing. A players need to develop quick feet, good lateral movement, being able to judge and read the direction of the serve, and moving the body behind the ball. A good passer has speed, quick feet, and most important squares arms, and shoulders towards the intended target or specific location.

Serving:
This is the start of a teams defense, as it begins the transition and plays for any team on offense, however it prepares a team for defense. With a "good" serve, a team is able to prevent their opponent from running any type of "play" or "transition" offense or attack. A team would be able to place blockers in key position to stop an attack off of the serve. A players need to be able to judge and read the direction of their serve. A good server has quick arm swing, and most important able to direct their serve towards the intended target or specific location.
